Finance Calculators (Page 33)
Mortgage, loans, investment returns, salaries tax, savings and more.
Marginal Propensity to Save Calculator
From the change in saving and the change in disposable income, compute the marginal propensity to save: how much of each extra dollar is saved.
Spending Multiplier Calculator
From the marginal propensity to consume (MPC), compute the spending multiplier: 1 ÷ (1 − MPC), how much total output one yen of spending ultimately drives.
Reserve Ratio Calculator
From reserves and total deposits, compute the reserve ratio: reserves ÷ total deposits × 100, the share of deposits a bank must hold as reserves.
From currency in circulation and demand deposits, compute the money supply: cash plus demand deposits, measuring the immediately spendable money stock (M1).
Labor Force Participation Rate Calculator
From the labor force and working-age population, compute the participation rate: labor force ÷ working-age × 100.
From the frictional and structural unemployment rates, compute the natural rate of unemployment: frictional rate plus structural rate, the 'normal' unemployment level when the economy is at full employment.
Output Gap Calculator
From actual and potential GDP, compute the output gap: (actual − potential) ÷ potential × 100%, measuring how far output is above or below capacity.
Disposable Income Calculator
From gross income and direct taxes, compute disposable income: income after tax, free for consumption and saving.
Discretionary Income Calculator
From disposable income and necessary expenses, compute discretionary income: what is left to spend freely after essentials.
Buying Power Calculator
From cash, margin multiplier and unrealised P/L, compute your available buying power for trading.
Fisher Effect Calculator
From nominal and real rates, or inflation, compute the Fisher effect — how inflation and nominal rates relate to the real rate.
From the unemployment-rate gap and Okun coefficient, estimate the output gap: output gap = −Okun coefficient × (actual unemployment − natural unemployment), quantifying the link between joblessness and economic output.
