Concrete Truck Calculator

Enter concrete volume and truck capacity to compute the number of mixer-truck deliveries (with wastage) and compare against the minimum load, for site ordering and scheduling.

Input Data

At a glance:Total with wastage = volume × (1 + wastage%). If the total is below the minimum load, charge at the minimum. Trucks needed = ⌈charged volume ÷ truck capacity⌉. Hong Kong ready-mix is mostly delivered by mixer trucks whose capacity is limited by road and weight, commonly 6–9 m³; sites must coordinate with pumps and pour rate for scheduling.

Formula

Total = volume × (1 + wastage%)

Charged volume = max(total, minimum load)

Trucks = ⌈charged volume ÷ capacity⌉

$$V_t = V_0(1+w)$$
$$V_c = \max(V_t, V_{\min})$$
$$N = \left\lceil \frac{V_c}{C} \right\rceil$$

How to Use

  1. Enter the concrete volume (m³).
  2. Select the mixer-truck capacity.
  3. Set the wastage and minimum load.
  4. The tool outputs total with wastage and trucks needed.

Case Studies

Basement slab

10 m³, 6 m³ capacity, 5% wastage, minimum 4.

Total 10.5 m³; trucks ⌈10.5/6⌉ = 2 loads.

Small plastering

2 m³, 6 m³ capacity, 5% wastage, minimum 4.

Total 2.1 m³; below minimum, charged at 4 m³, 1 truck.

FAQ

Why set a minimum load?

Suppliers set a minimum to cover dispatch cost; below it is still charged at the minimum, so very small jobs may not be economical.

Is a bigger truck always better?

Large trucks have a lower unit price but are limited by site road, pump position and pour rate, so they must fit site conditions.
