Trail Running Pace Calculator

Estimate average trail pace from distance, elevation gain and flat pace.

Input Data

Distance
Elevation
Flat Pace Min

Results

Estimated total time.
65
Estimated average pace.
6.5
Explanatory note about the result.
10km / 爬升 500m / 6分/km → 總 65 分,平均 6.5 分/km。

At a glance:Add time per metre of gain to the flat time; common rules add ~10 s per 100 m (or use Naismith's ~10 min per 100 m / 6 km flat). Complements running and pace-calculator.

Formula

flatTime = distance × flatPaceMin.

gainTime ≈ elevation × factor (e.g. 0.1 min/m).

total = flatTime + gainTime.

How to Use

  1. Enter distance, elevation gain and your flat pace.
  2. The tool returns estimated time and average pace.

Case Studies

10 km, 400 m gain, 5:00 flat

flat 50:00 + 400×0.1 = 40:00 → total 90:00, avg 9:00/km.

FAQ

What is Naismith's rule?

A planning rule: 1 hour per 5 km plus 1 hour per 600 m of ascent.
