At a glance:Base weight + per-inch increment × (height in inches − 60). Hamwi M 48+2.7/in, F 45.5+2.2/in; Devine M 50+2.3/in, F 45.5+2.3/in; Robinson M 52+1.9/in, F 49+1.7/in; Miller M 56.2+1.41/in, F 53.1+1.36/in. This tool reports a range for reference.
Formula
base + increment × (inches − 60).
each formula uses a slightly different increment.
range = min–max of the four results.
How to Use
- Select sex and enter height.
- The tool gives the four formula results and a combined range.
Case Studies
Male 175 cm
175 cm ≈ 68.9 in, about 8.9 in over 60.
Devine ≈ 50 + 2.3×8.9 ≈ 70.5 kg; Robinson ≈ 52 + 1.9×8.9 ≈ 68.9 kg.
FAQ
Which formula is most accurate?
They are all empirical and close to each other. The range matters more than any single number; judge together with BMI 18.5–24.9, body fat, and muscle.
How does it relate to BMI?
Ideal weight usually maps to BMI 21–23 (the healthy mid-range). This tool notes the BMI, but BMI does not distinguish muscle from fat.
What if I have high muscle?
Muscle weighs more than fat; fit people often exceed the ideal number yet stay healthy. Look at body fat and waist, not just the number.
Are there Asian standards?
Asian BMI overweight starts at 23, so ideal weight can be a bit lower than Western formulas. This tool gives a range that includes the difference.
What weight goal should I set?
A gentle goal is the upper end of the range or the weight at BMI 22, planned with TDEE and protein.
How accurate is it?
Formulas ignore frame, age, and body composition and are only rough guidance. For medical advice consult a professional.
