At a glance:Day 1 is the first day of last period; the cycle is L days long. Phases: menstrual (days 1–P, P = period length), follicular (P+1 to just before ovulation), ovulation (around day L−14, ±2–3 days), luteal (after ovulation to L). This tool locates the phase by taking 'days from today' modulo L.
Formula
Day-in-cycle = (days from today mod L) + 1.
Ovulation day ≈ day (L − 14).
Phases: 1–P menstrual; P+1 ~ L−14 follicular; (L−14)±2 ovulation; the rest luteal.
How to Use
- Enter the first day of last period, cycle length, and period length.
- Enter days from today (or let it derive from the date).
- The tool shows the current stage code, name, and days to next period.
Case Studies
Cycle 28 days, period 5 days, day 21
Day-in-cycle = 21 (no cycle wrap).
Ovulation day ≈ day 14; day 21 is in the luteal phase.
Days to next period = 28 − 21 = 7 days.
FAQ
What is cycle syncing?
It means adapting diet, exercise, and routine to the hormonal shifts across the four menstrual phases. For example, train hard in the follicular phase when energy is higher, and ease off in the luteal phase. This tool only dates the phases.
Why is ovulation day L−14?
The luteal phase is relatively fixed at about 14 days, so ovulation is about 14 days before the next period, i.e. day (L−14). For irregular cycles this is only an estimate.
Accurate for irregular cycles?
No. With irregular cycles the phase estimate is rough. Use basal body temperature, ovulation strips, or an app to track. This tool assumes a fixed cycle length.
Can I use this for birth control or trying to conceive?
No. This is a calendar estimate, not ovulation confirmation. For contraception or conception use more reliable methods (e.g. ovulation strips, ultrasound) and consult a healthcare professional.
Does it work for perimenopause or menopause?
No. It targets people with regular menstrual cycles. Perimenopause has chaotic cycles; rely on medical assessment instead.
What does the stage code mean?
0 = menstrual, 1 = follicular, 2 = ovulation, 3 = luteal. It is a numeric tag of the phase name, handy for charts or programming.
