At a glance:Scaffold erected area = exterior wall elevation area × scaffold levels (multi-level platforms or birdcage scaffolds multiply by count). Cost = erected area × rate per m². Bamboo scaffolding is still common in Hong Kong but requires licensed scaffolders; metal (system) scaffolds are faster and pricier. Actual works also include access openings, safety nets, inspection and rental period; this calculator covers only elevation coverage and approximate cost. Hong Kong's Bamboo Scaffolding Work Safety Code strictly regulates erection.
Formula
Erected area = wall area × levels
Cost = erected area × rate
$$A_s = A_w \, L$$$$C = A_s \, r$$How to Use
- Enter the exterior wall elevation area (m²).
- Enter the scaffold levels.
- Enter the rate per m² (HK$/m²).
- The tool outputs erected area and cost.

FAQ
Bamboo vs metal scaffold?
Bamboo is flexible and cheap but needs licensed scaffolders; metal system scaffolds are faster to install and pricier. Choose by schedule and safety.
Do levels matter much?
Birdcage or double-level platforms multiply area and cost, and high levels need extra safety nets and enclosures.
