FAQ
Does this calculator handle progressive tax brackets?
No. This tool applies a single flat rate and does not handle graduated bands such as those in income tax. For progressive salaries tax, please use the dedicated bracket calculator or the tax authority's own estimator.
How do I enter the tax rate?
Enter it as a percentage—for example, 5 means 5% (i.e. 0.05 as a decimal). The calculator converts it automatically.
What is the difference between gross and net here?
Gross is the amount including tax; net is the amount before tax. Retail prices are often shown inclusive of tax, so use gross mode to strip the tax out and net mode to add it.
What happens at a 0% tax rate?
With a 0% rate the tax is zero and the gross equals the net exactly.
Can I combine multiple taxes?
Multiple taxes can stack (each calculated separately), but this tool is limited to a single rate. Compute each tax on its own and add them up if you need a combined effect.
Where is this useful?
It is handy for VAT / sales-tax estimates, converting a quoted price between tax-inclusive and tax-exclusive, and rough import-duty estimates.
