What is the MPF cap?
The employee contributes 5% of salary, capped at HK$1,500 once the monthly salary reaches HK$30,000. Above that, the employee portion stays at HK$1,500.
How does this differ from a full salary calculator?
A full salary calculator may apply the full progressive tax bands; this tool uses a simplified estimated monthly tax you enter yourself, so it is quick for planning rather than a precise tax return figure.
What is this used for?
It helps with salary planning and budgeting — working out the take-home amount after MPF and tax so you can set a realistic monthly budget.
What precision is shown?
The result is displayed to two decimal places.
