At a glance:Single-tile area = (tile length × width) / 1,000,000 (m²); tiles needed = area ÷ single-tile area × (1 + wastage%), rounded up. Tile cost = tiles × price; labour = area × laying rate (including mortar and labour, or quoted separately). Large tiles cost less labour per m² but more per piece. This calculator covers only tiles and laying, not waterproofing, screed or skirting.
Formula
Tiles = area / (length×width/10⁶) × (1 + wastage%)
Total cost = tiles × price + area × laying rate
$$n = \frac{A}{w h /10^6}(1+w_t)$$$$C = n\, p + A\, r$$How to Use
- Enter the tiling area (m²).
- Enter the tile length/width (mm) and price.
- Set the wastage % and laying rate.
- The tool outputs tile count and total cost.

FAQ
Why is wall-tile wastage higher?
Wall tiles meet windows, sockets and corners needing cuts, wastage often 10–15%; floor tiles are lower.
Does the rate include mortar?
Usually "labour and materials (mortar)" is per m²; if labour only, mortar and adhesive are separate — ask when quoting.
